Thank you for visiting our CASA St. Pius information page. CASA St. Pius is an acronym for "Casa Alitas Shelter Alternate" at St. Pius. This ministry is formerly known as the "Emergency Repsonse Ministry".
CASA St. Pius Migrant Ministry is continuing to welcome and serve our brothers and sisters seeking asylum beginning the third Sunday of each month. However, for the next few months, while the old Benedictine Monastery is available to house a larger number of guests, CASA St Pius will move our efforts and location to the monastery. The need for volunteers and donations remains high. Please check the CASA St Pius webpage: http://www.stpiusxtucson.org/home/casa-st-pius-emergency-response-ministry/ for updated information and requests for donations.
Usually the refugees stay only one or two nights at the shelter as they finalize plans to unite with those who are sponsoring their entrance into the United States. Their arrival in this country does not provide assurance that one will be able to remain here. The migrants must wait to be assigned a court date to determine their asylum status once they have reached their destination. Our mission is to make our guests comfortable for the short time they are in our company, whether at CASA St. Pius or the Benedictine Monastery.
